145 000 job opportunities are currently available in Tunisia according to the annual report of the Arab Institute of Business Managers (IACE) made public Monday in Tunis.
The report on the theme “job demand and offer in Tunisia”, indicates that job vacancies are divided, essentially, on the following sectors: information and communication technologies, the agro-food sector, construction, chemical industry, paper and medical industry.
IACE spokesman, Faycel Derbal said at a press conference on Monday in Tunis that the study on job offer and demand in Tunisia was conducted with 400 companies and 10,000 graduate job seekers.
It deals with the problem of university education in Tunisia and the mismatch between offer and employment, adding that business leaders deplore the low level in language of job seekers, he said.
“2/3 of job seekers are judged incompetent by business leaders because they are unable to
express themselves,” he added.
Among 10,000 job seekers, the survey also showed that the waiting time for a first professional integration is an average of 2 ½ years and in 87% of cases it is between one year and 4 years up to 6 years.
At the conference, the experts recommended more coordination between training and the labor market, calling, in this regard, to grant more autonomy to the university in order to promote greater openness to the company.
