Tunisia, AFD sign two financing agreements

Tunisia and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed on Wednesday in Tunis two financing agreements in the form of donation.

The first is the Programme to support the emergence of Clusters in Tunisia whose main objective is to support the pilot phase of a national mechanism to support emerging clusters as in Tunisia a vector of competitiveness, innovation and local economic development. This pilot phase will involve ten clusters and will allow drawing lessons necessary for the dissemination of the process via a perennial national mechanism.

The project management will be entrusted to the Ministry of Industry, and a national steering committee of the mechanism, made up of representatives of public and private sector.

The amount of the grant, made available to the beneficiary by AFD, amounted to EUR 3 million 200 thousand.

The second agreement signed involves the Expertise and Capacity Building Fund (FERC).

It is an instrument to finance in the areas of agriculture and rural development, health, primary and secondary education, vocational training, environment, private sector, infrastructure and urban development, studies or expertise identifying projects, project feasibility, sectoral or institutional, for the preparation of the projects it intends to finance or audit their feasibility.

The amount of the grant made available to the beneficiary by the AFD, is 1 million euro as a grant also.
