Tunisia: DCFTA negotiations to begin October 19

Tunisia will start negotiations in the framework of the agreement for a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) with the European Union on the liberalization of trade of agricultural products and services on October 19, 2015, said Trade Minister Ridha Lahouel.

Chairing, Thursday, the regional committee for price control in the governorate of Ariana, the Trade Minister said that the first discussions will start with the European side to look at ways to liberalize the services sector and facilitate the access of domestic agricultural products to the European market, with a view to improving the trade balance and boosting the Tunisian economy.

According to him, negotiations on the liberalization of agricultural products and services trade will also concern the European Union, Algeria, Iran and many Asian countries, thanks to higher production of olive oil and dates for export.
