Growth in Tunisia is expected to increase at 2.2% this year and 2.7% in 2018, according to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)’s projections in its May report.

This rebound is explained by that of agricultural production, following heavy rainfall and by the sustained recovery in tourism and investment.

The report notes that economic growth has been slow in 2016 to reach the rate of 1% against 1.1% a year earlier.

This modest growth is attributable to a recovery in the services sector, offsetting declines in agriculture due to low levels of rainfall and oil and gas extraction and refining due to reduced investment by international oil companies.
