Tunisia: good figures of Orange Tunisia in 2015, the tree that hides the forest

The Synthesis Report of the Observatory of the National Telecommunications Authority (INT) shed light on the health of the telecommunications sector in 2015. According to the document, the overall turnover of the sector recorded +33 million Tunisian dinars (MD) in the year 2015, a leap forward of 1.3%.

The INT Observatory explains this improvement by the wholesale market receipts, 37 MTD, an evolution of 6.2%, while the revenues of the retail market have slightly dropped -4 MTD.

Yet in detail, only Orange Tunisia’s total revenues among the three public telecommunications network operators registered a surge in revenues in 2015. The turnover rose to 121 MTD, i.e. a growth rate of 31.4% to 507 MTD.

On the other hand, Ooredoo Tunisia and “Tunisie Télécom” are not looking great, with revenues declining by (-4.6%) and (-3.8%), respectively.

In terms of market share, the incumbent operator (Tunisie Telecom) retains its status as number 1, with 41.1%, followed by Ooredoo Tunisia with 37%.

Orange Tunisia improved in 2015 with its 4.5 points more, but still far behind with a share of 19.4%, indicates the analysis of the INT Observatory.
