Tunisia: IMF mission expected February 18 to discuss 2nd cooperation program

A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will visit Tunisia on February 18, 2016, to discuss a second cooperation program between Tunisia on the one hand and the Fund and the World Bank (WB) on the other hand, Minister of Finance Slim Chaker said on Tuesday.

The new cooperation program with Tunisia, which covers the 2016/2019 period, will focus on boosting economic growth, the minister told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting-debate on the 2016 Finance Law.

Chaker said on another hand that his department will consider the development of an important reform program involving other donors including the African Development Bank (AfDB).

These programs will be registered under a single matrix of reforms that will constitute a working tool with all the donors in the country, he further said.

The implementation of these reforms should be launched in early May 2016, he said.

Tunisia and the IMF signed a two-year stand-by arrangement, worth 1.61 billion dollars (3.26 billion dinars) and 400% of the share of Tunisia.
