Tunisia: Launch in Tunis of ASDI Report for North Africa

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) presented, on Tuesday in Tunis, the African Social Development Index (ASDI) Report for North Africa realized for the first time in North Africa.

It includes ASDI results for six countries in the sub-region, namely: Algeria, Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia.

This report aims to help African countries to ensure a positive impact of economic development on the living conditions of their populations, said the director of Social

Development Policy Division at the commission, adding that the ASDI is an efficient tool to measure human exclusion in six key dimensions including health, education and employment.

Speaking, Resident Coordinator of the UN system in Tunisia, Mazen Abu Shanab stressed the commitment of the UN office in Tunisia to implement plans in the social field and to join government efforts to enhance life indicators for citizens, according to a participatory approach.
