Tunisia: new draft investment code will soon be presented to government

Minister of Industry, Mining and Energy, Zakaria Hamad has announced that the new draft investment code will be presented soon to the government.

Speaking at the opening session of the meeting on “Strengthening the role of industrial and technology incubators in industrial development” held in Tunis until October 15, 2015, he stressed that “the new code is able to consolidate investment and open new perspectives for the development of the share of industrial incubators. “

Hamad said that the Tunisian experience is one of the most important Arab experiences in the creation of business incubators, given that the country has 30 incubators, 27 of them within the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).

The minister said the development of the business climate in Tunisia requires strengthening the industrial and technological infrastructure through the development of industrial zones and boosting the competitiveness of traditional economic sectors.

He added that Tunisia is working to revise the support system for businesses, simplify administrative procedures for the creation of projects and reduce the documents necessary for the realization of projects.

Director General of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) Adil Sakr has focused on the role of business incubators in the reduction of unemployment in the Arab world, noting that the rate of success of projects sheltered by incubators is 80% against 35% for those created outside incubators.

Sakr called for encouraging the creation of industrial and technological incubators, giving their roles in the development of SMEs and their contribution to development, and this through the implementation of industrial strategies at regional level.
