Tunisia, Switzerland sign agreement to implement 2nd phase of training program

The Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment and the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia signed, on Monday, an agreement for the realization of the second phase of the ‘Vocational Training in Tunisia: Practical Modules to Enhance Youth Employability”.

Funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for an amount of 20 million dinars, the program will target 4,000 job seekers, said Zied Laadhari, Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, at the signing ceremony.

He added that the program will run for five years (2016-2020) and aims to improve the skills of young job seekers to meet labor market needs, noting that 300 human resource managers and 10 public and private companies will benefit from this program.

For her part, Adam Rita, Swiss ambassador to Tunisia said that the signing of the agreement comes within the framework of strengthening Tunisian-Swiss cooperation in the field of improving professional training.

The document will consolidate the promising results of the first phase of the program which started in 2013 and that was marked by the establishment of two training companies, , she said.

Operational since 2014, the two training companies created during the first phase of the program aim to support job seekers to help them develop their skills to improve their employability, Adam noted, adding that a third training company will be created during the implementation of the second phase of the program.

The second phase of the ‘Training in Tunisia: practical modules to enhance youth employability’ aims to increase youth employability through the improvement of the image of vocational training by focusing on practice and bringing it closer to private sector needs.

This is in addition to strengthening soft skills of unemployed graduates and developing human resources in companies.
