Tunisia- trade deficit: slight improvement thanks to lower imports

The National Statistics Institute (INS) took the pulse of Tunisia’s external trade at current prices for the first seven months of 2016.

It is established that the revenues from export recorded at the end of last July 1 posted a slight decline of 0.5% compared with the same period in 2015, to 16.507 billion dinars.

Imports also declined almost in the same proportions, -0.7%; they amounted to 23.363 billion dinars in 2016 against 23.533 billion in 2015.

This gives us a trade balance deficit over the first seven months of this year to 6.853 billion dinars against 6.943 billion at the end of July 2015, i.e. a very slight improvement.

The coverage rate is almost the same, at the end of July, 70.7%, against 70.5% in the same period last year.
