Tunisia: UfM to hold Mediterranean Economic Conference September 17-18

The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) will organize the Mediterranean Economic Conference at the Regency Tunis Hotel (Gammarth) on 17 and 18 September, 2013.

The Conference will be centered on the issues of employment and territorial development, and will witness the launch of the Mediterranean Initiative for Jobs (Med4Jobs).

The event will bring together Ministers of Employment and government officials from the Mediterranean region, influential practitioners in the area of local development and job creation, as well as European institutions, intergovernmental organizations, international financial institutions and business leaders from the private sector.

Furthermore, the conference sessions will shed light on the Mediterranean Initiative for Jobs (Med4Jobs), a flagship regional program developed by the UfM Secretariat to help increase the employability of youth and women in the Eastern and Southern Mediterranean region, leverage job creation and foster a culture of entrepreneurship and private sector development.

A number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are expected to be signed at the conference between different partners with the aim to offer more financing opportunities for start-ups and innovative entrepreneurs in the region.
