Investors stake 14.7 billion naira on equities at Nigerian bourse

Investors at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Tuesday s taked a total of 14.7 billion naira on 1.045 billion shares traded in 21,111 dea l s.

Market capitalization of listed equities increased to 12.623 trillion naira from 12.522 trillion naira recorded at the end of Monday’s transactions.

Similarly, the All-Share Index went up from 65,161.71 to 66,286.58 points Tuesda y.

Nestle Nigeria Plc led the gainers’ table with N12.20 to close at N259.80 per sh are, Oando Plc followed with a gain of N11.07 to close N232.65.

Sky Shelter Nig Plc also closed at N133.69 gaining N6.36.

Two Petroleum marketing stocks led the losers’ table.

Total Nig plc led with a loss of N14.06 to close at N267.24,Chevron Nig Plc also lost N12.18 to close at N355.OO and Julius Berger closed at N134.00 losing N7.0 0 in the process.

The Insurance subsector led the activity chart in turnovervolume with 479.7 mill ion shares valued at 2.43 billion naira in 6,098 deals.

The shares of Universal Insurance Plc, Unic Insurance Plc and LASACO Assurance P lc boosted the activity in the subsector.

The Banking subsector followed on the activity chart with 230.6 million shares w orth 6.53 billion naira recorded in 6,732 deals.

The subsector was driven by the shares of Oceanic Bank Plc, Diamond Bank Plc and Intercontinental Bank Plc.

The Food/Beverages and Tobacco subsector came a distance third in the activity c hart measured by turnover volume with 36.1 million shares worth 934 million nair a in 1,152 deals.

Dangote Sugar refineries Plc was the most traded with 12.5 million shares valued at 587.6 million naira recorded in 353 deals.

UTC followed with a turnover of 11.7 million shares worth 117 million naira reco rded in 306 deals and Big Treat Plc garnered 8.52 million shares valued at 94.8

million naira recorded in 75 deals.
