Nigeria: Nigeria, Portugal business groups seek greater trade relations

Business groups from Nigeria and Portugal are seeking greater trade relations between them, according to the chairman of the Nigeria-Portugal Business Association, Mr. Emeka Emuwa.

Speaking at dinner organised for visiting Portuguese entrepreneurs to Nigeria, Mr. Emuwa said  one of the objectives of the Association was to provide a platform through which Nigerians doing business in Portugal and Portuguese doing business in Nigeria can come together to foster business relations.

On his part, the Secretary of the Association, Mr. Ade Shonubi, said the establishment of the group was driven by the massive business opportunities in both countries.

“Nigeria is an evolving country with a lot of opportunities in agriculture, construction, technology, education, and in health. Portugal has a lot of experience and wine, especially from the duri region,” the local media Monday quoted him as saying.

The leader of the Portuguese delegation, Maria Helena Ramos, said the group was in Nigeria to explore business opportunities.

“We represent the Portuguese Business Association, a centenary group of over 165 years old. It is a national Association, we have members from all across Portugal, and we are from different business activity.

“Today, we have a group of Portuguese companies from the construction, pharmaceuticals, food, and health equipment. So it is a group that represents our members from Portugal,” Ramos said.
