As part of the Tunisian Multisectoral itinerant economic mission to Brazzaville and Kinshasa from November 10 to 17, 2019, a delegation of 25 Tunisian businessmen began the Tunisian-Congolese Business Forum on Monday, November 11, in Brazzaville.
The delegation is composed of companies operating in various sectors such as: food processing (bakery products, biscuits, confectionery; pasta; agricultural fertilizers), pharmaceuticals, stationery and school supplies, construction and sanitary products; telecommunications and ICT services; electricity and cleaning products.
The Forum program included well-targeted B2B meetings with more than 150 Congolese operators from Brazzaville and also from Pointe-Noire, the economic capital of Congo.
The mission’s program also includes visits to companies and institutions in Brazzaville, including a meeting with the Congolese Minister of Trade.
The Republic of Congo is a member of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States (CEMAC) and holds more than 20% of the zone’s imports, with economic growth expected to reach 5.4% in 2019, compared to the 3% estimated for the CEMAC zone.
Trade between Tunisia and the Republic of Congo does not exceed 25 million dinars and is limited to a few products exported despite the country’s strong potential, such as margarine, toilet paper, plaster and some food products.
The prospecting mission is organized by the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX), the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Centre (CCIC), in partnership with the Tunisian embassy in Kinshasa
