Tunisia: 6.5% increase in SMIG from May 2019 to 403 dinars

On the celebration of International Labor Day and to improve the purchasing power of pensioners and employees, Prime Minister Youssef Chahed announced the following:

– Increase in the guaranteed minimum wage in the industrial and agricultural sectors (SMIG and SMAG) by 6.5% as of May 2019 to 403.1 dinars.

– Rise by 6.5% in wages of all private sector pensioners under the National Social Security Fund as of May 2019.

– Increase in construction workers’ wages by 6.5% per month from May 2019.

The increase in the guaranteed minimum wage and pensions in the private sector is the third of its kind since 2017.
