Tunisia: 610 MD from WB to support education and agriculture

Minister of Investment, Development and International Co-operation Zied Laâdhari and the World Bank Country Manager for Tunisia, Tony Verheijen, signed Thursday, June 7, 2018, two financing agreements for Tunisia worth 610 million dinars (MD).

The signing took place in the presence of Ministers of Education, Hatem Ben Salem and Agriculture, Samir Bettaieb, said a statement.

The first funding agreement is valued at €81.2 million (equivalent to 246,734 MD) and will be dedicated to support education in 73 delegations, 63 of which are in the regional development zones. The interest rate of this agreement is set at 0.7% repayable over 26 years with 6 years of grace.

The second financing agreement is worth an estimated $ 140 million and will be allocated to the valorization of irrigation systems in agricultural regions.

The loan is subject to an interest rate of 0.7% and is repayable over 28 years with 6 ½ years of grace.
