Tunisia: BCT raises benchmark interest rate by 100 points to 6.75%

The Executive Board of the Central Bank of Tunisia, on Wednesday, decided to increase the Bank’s benchmark interest rate by 100 points from 5.75% to 6% per annum to tackle the persistence of inflationary pressures.

At its meeting Wednesday, the Board noted the persistence of these pressures which “are likely to intensify over the coming period, in the light of foreseeable developments in all the leading indicators of economic performance, in particular the expected rise in prices of basic materials, notably, energy.”
