Tunisia: Citrus production edges up 35% in Cap Bon

Citrus fruit production in the Cap Bon region will reach 330 thousand tons this year, compared with 255 thousand tons a year earlier, up 35 percent, said president of the local union of agriculture in Beni Khaled, Bechir Oun Allah.

Of these, 120 thousand tons of Maltese variety, he reported, calling for the imperative to seek new export markets given the record rise in production.

The same source said the citrus harvest started three weeks ago, recalling that the region of Cap Bon provides 80% of the domestic citrus fruit production.
