Tunisia: current account deficit exceeds for first time 10% of GDP

Tunisia’s current account deficit reached a record high of 10.1 billion dinars in 2017, or 10.3 percent of GDP, exceeding the peak of 9.2 percent in 1993 and 8.9 percent in 2014 and 2015.
The positive balance of services, income from the labor and capital factor and current transfers barely cover a quarter of the trade deficit.
The latter reached an amount of 15.6 billion dinars at the end of December 2017.
