Tunisia: date exports generate 219 MD in 3 months

Revenues from Tunisian date exports increased by 14.4% from the start of the export season (October 31, 2018) until January 7, 2019, compared to the same period of 2018, reaching 219

million dinars (MD), driven by increased demand on the Maghreb market which exceeded 7 thousand tons.

Tunisia has sold nearly 32.5 thousand tons since the beginning of the date exports season, compared to 31.5 thousand tons, that is to say 191 MD, during the last season, which represents a 3% increase in quantities, according to data released Thursday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

Demand in the Maghreb market has increased by 22.6% in parallel with the Spanish market which climbed 25%, besides the US markets (51.5%) and Indonesia (14.7%).
