Tunisia: decree on opening of independent exchange offices approved

A draft government decree on the opening of independent exchange offices throughout the country was approved at a Cabinet meeting chaired on Thursday by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.

This decision should have the effect of redirecting foreign exchange operations through illegal networks to official channels and boosting national efforts in the fight against money laundering and terrorism.

The main criteria for choosing the legal entities that will engage in this exchange activity are obtaining a License in a jurisdiction related to the field of finance or a professional certificate granted by the Academy of Banks and Finance.
