Tunisia: exports grew by only 3.4% in volume at end of August

Tunisia’s exports grew in volume (at constant prices) by 3.4% while imports increased by 1.7% in the first eight months of 2018, compared to the same period in 2017, according to data published Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In terms of prices, they increased by 16.2% for exports and 18.4% for imports.

In current values, Tunisia’s exports reached 26.358 billion dinars (+ 20.2%) in the first eight months of 2018 while imports reached 38.519 billion dinars (+ 20.4%).

Excluding energy, prices grew at export by 15.2% and at import by 19.0%.

In fact, during the first eight months of the current year, energy prices recorded increases of around 30.9% for exports and 12.2% for imports.
