Tunisia: multi-sector prospecting mission in Tripoli from June 30 to July 02

The Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC), a structure aimed at further strengthening economic cooperation between Tunisia and the African continent and promoting relations between Tunisian and African investors, has multiplied actions for more than three years with several African countries and the results are already there.

These achievements have pushed this NGO to launch bilateral business councils with some countries whose relations with Tunisia have accelerated since the work undertaken by the Tunisia Africa Business Council.

This is the case of Libya, for which the TABC has just dedicated a specific business council, by launching the Tunisian Libyan Business Council. The latter is organizing a first mission of Tunisian economic operators in Tripoli.

The Tunisian delegation headed by Mr. Slim Feriani, Minister of Industry and SMEs of the Tunisia will be hosted by the country’s highest authorities and will be composed of more than 70 business leaders representing different sectors of activity [ industries (chemical, metallurgical, automotive, etc …), agro-food, health, construction, telecommunications …].

The delegation will also be accompanied by the adviser of the Tunisian Prime Minister, as well as the adviser of the Minister of Health, a representative of the central bank, and a representative of Tunisair company.

The flagship event of this mission will be the Libya – Tunisia Economic Forum which will take place on Sunday, July 1st from 9am at the Corinthia Tripoli Hotel.

The different panels of this forum will focus on the following topics:

– Economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.

– Development of the health sector between the two countries.

– Major infrastructure projects in Libya.

The forum will be followed by a B2B working session between Tunisian and Libyan economic operators.

The company Elbene Industry accumulates the losses. The company specializing in the manufacture and marketing of packaged milk and fresh dairy products revealed Monday that it recorded a loss of 10 million dinars in 2017, relaying a deficit of 6.9 million in 2016.

ELBENE’s total income fell by 4% last year to 89.4 million dinars. This decrease is mainly due to the decrease recorded in “Other operating income” relating to the compensation premium, the storage premium and the drying premium.

Operating expenses, for their part, almost stagnated compared to 2016 to reach 93.7 million dinars. For this purpose, the operating result shows a deficit of 4.3 million dinars against -624 thousand dinars in 2016.

In addition, net financial expenses continue to weigh on the company’s net income. At the end of 2017, they posted a total of 6.7 million dinars, including 1.3 million exchange losses.
