Tunisia: Post has not received BCT’s approval to become a bank

The post will not be transformed into a bank, for lack of authorization from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Head of the Tunisian Post, Moez Chakchouk, said in a statement to AfricanManager on Thursday, March 16, 2017.

He also explained that the Post could not meet the eligible conditions since it is a public institution and not a public limited company.

Moez Shahchouk also indicated that the Tunisian Post has signed four agreements with Microcred, Enda, Tayssir and Advance Tunisie with the aim of introducing financial integration by offering new financial services to social groups that are not concerned with traditional banking services.
