Tunisia: private sector wage increases of 6.5% for 2018-2019

An agreement on wage increases in the private sector for 2018-2019 was signed Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Kasbah in the presence of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.

The minutes of the agreement were initialed by Secretary General of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT), Noureddine Tabboubi, and President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), Samir Majoul.

The agreement states:

A 6.5% increase in respect of 2018 applicable to the base salaries of 2017.

A 6.5% increase for 2019 applicable to base salaries in 2018.

A 6.5% increase in respect of 2018 applicable to the general and fixed premiums of 2017.

A 6.5% increase in respect of 2019 applicable to general and fixed premiums of 2018.

The 2018 and 2019 rises take effect from the date indicated in the sectoral common agreements.

The Annexes implementing this agreement setting the modalities of increase in each of the sectors covered by the agreement must be published by October 31, 2018 at the latest.
