Tunisia: reported investment in industry plummets by 12.8

Investments reported in the industrial sector in the first five months of 2018 reached an amount of 1,590.4 MD, against 1,823.5 MD during the same period of 2017, down 12.8%. This was stated in the last business letter from the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).

The number of projects reported reached 1905 in the first five months of 2018 compared with 1740 in the same period of 2017, up 6.2%. These projects will create 27,658 jobs, compared to 28,954 jobs in 2017, down 4.5%.

During the month of May 2018, the reported investment in the industrial sector reached the amount of 341.8 MD, against 160.5 MD during the month of May 2017, posting an increase of 113%.

The number of projects reported reached 331 in May 2018 compared to 285 in May 2017, up 16.1%.

These projects will create 5,797 jobs, compared to 2,846 jobs in May 2017, i.e. a rise of 103.7%.
