Tunisia: revenue from date export hits record high

Export revenue for dates in the 2017/2018 season reached a record level, at 331.807 million dinars (MD), up 22%, compared to the previous season (271.727 MD).
By volume, the quantities of exported dates have increased by 6% from the beginning of the season (October 1, 2017) until February 21, 2018, reaching about 54,519 thousand tons, against 51,391 thousand tons, according to the data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
During the same period, the quantities of organic dates exported reached 6,876 tons compared to 5,263 tons during the same period of the previous season, representing a growth of 30.6%.

According to the ministry, this record increase is due to higher quantities of organic dates exported and dates exported to Indonesia, Spain, the United States and India.
Among the destinations of Tunisian date exports, the Moroccan market occupies the first place with 11,931 thousand tons, followed by Italy with 5,477 thousand tons, then Indonesia, Spain and France with quantities that are close to 4 thousand tons.
