Tunisia: revenue from fruit exports up 51%

Fruit exports grew by 51% in value during the period from January 2 to July 3, 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries announced Thursday.

The quantities of fruit exported grew by 19.2% to 13,930 tons for a value of 42,415 million dinars (MD), against 28,109 MD, during the past season.

During this season, apricots ranked first in terms of fruit exports with the export of 4,990 tons valued at 15 921 MD.

The Ministry of Agriculture explained this increase by the development of exports to the Libyan market, which reached 6,500 tons worth 11.554 MD.

Similarly, fruit exports to the Italian market have increased to 2,784 tons worth 4.650, MD, compared with 2,376 tons worth 2.565 MD during the same period last season
