Tunisia: stock of dams almost doubles

The water stocks in the Tunisian dams amounted to 1.112 billion cubic meters (m3) at the end of October 2018, against 556 million cubic meters during the same period of 2017. The filling rate of the Sidi Barak dam is in first place at 86%.

Rains recorded in October 2018 contributed to supply 474 million cubic meters of dams, compared to 29 million cubic meters during the same period last year, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

The dams of the northern governorates received 272 million m3 until the end of October 2018, compared to 16 million m3 in 2017, followed by those of the governorates of the midland with 128 million m3 against 9 million m3 in 2017.

The dams of Cap Bon obtained 74 million m3 at the end of October 2018 compared to only 4 million m3 during the same period of 2017.

The Sidi Barrak dam achieved a filling rate of 86%, followed by the Mellegue Dam (73%), then Séjnène (57%), Bouhertma (34%) and finally the Sidi Salem dam with 33% and Nebhana (31%).
