Tunisia: summer fruit production rises 17%

The production of summer fruit will reach 290 thousand tons against 248 thousand tons in 2018, i.e. a 17% increase, the Ministry of Agriculture estimates.

The result can be explained by the improved production of peaches and nectarines (+ 25%), apricots (+ 2%), almonds (+ 10%), plums (+ 29%), cherries (+ 11%) and loquats (+ 57%).

The amount of fruit exported until May 20, 2019 reached nearly 2,138 tons worth 6873 million dinars, against 2,742 tons estimated at 10,749 million dinars the previous season.

It should be noted that Libya captures 80% of Tunisian fruit exports.
