Tunisia- Tourism: arrivals soar by 26.1%, Algerians in the lead

All tourism figures have registered a very remarkable increase as of June 30, 2018.

There were 3,229,973 arrivals, up 26.1%, of which 895,000 Europeans, with an increase of 59.9%. The remaining Europeans are distributed between the remaining 274,351, up 85%.

They are the French who come out ahead with 302,878 visitors (+ 49%), followed by the Germans with 96,437 (+ 60,6%), and the Russians with 221,987 (+ 48,3%)

As for the Maghrebians, they were 1.65.586 coming to Tunisia on the same date, i.e. an increase of 17.4%. Algerians are the most numerous with 905,053 (+ 18.1%), followed by Libyans with 718,889 (+ 16.0%) and other Maghrebians with 35,644 (+ 29.8%).

Tunisian expatriates were not outdone with 584,137 arrivals (+ 13.0%), while the Chinese numbered 15,269 (+ 54.8%).

Tourism receipts rose by 46.1% compared to the same period of 2017, amounting to 1,292.3 million dinars, or 430.3 million euros (+ 24.4%) and 522.1 million dollars (+ 39.5%).

For overnight stays, they rose to 7,967,795, up 39.3%.

It is Djerba-Zarzis which has the lion’s share with 2.112.188 nights (+ 76.6%). Then come Sousse (1,476,459), Nabeul-Hammamet (1,120,356), Yasmine-Hammamet (817,100), Tunis-Côtes de Carthage (730,039) and Monastir-Skanès (732,998).
