Tunisia: tourist arrivals and overnight stays up in Monastir

The number of visitors and overnight stays in the governorate of Monastir has improved significantly over last year compared to 2016.
According to data provided by the regional tourism office, 448,446 tourists visited the tourist area of Monastir last year against 379,506 people in 2016, up 18.2%.
Besides, overnight stays grew 21.7%, to 2,412,873 overnight stays in 2017 against 1,982,563 overnight stays in 2016, the same source said.
The Algerian Tourists (35,000), Russian (96,000) and German (1,500) and French tourists top the list of visitors to the Monastir tourist area in 2017.
As regards domestic tourism indicators, they grew both in terms of arrivals (34%) and nights (67%) spent in hotel units in the region.
