The trade balance of fishery products recorded a surplus of 239.3 million dinars (MD), at the end of November 2018 against 227.4 MD during the same period of 2017, up 5.14%.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries said in a statement Wednesday revenue from fishery products reached 474.1 MD, i.e. an increase of 28.5% (31.5% in quantity) because of the export of 23,814 tons of these products.
The Agriculture Department has explained this growth by the increase by 87 MD of exports of aquaculture bream, octopus, crabs and canned tuna and shrimps while revenues for canned sardine, squid and wolffish declined by about 13.4 MD.
Exports of crabs (frozen and processed) reached 3 thousand tons at the end of November 2018, for a value of 22.4 MD.
As for imports of fishery products, they reached about 41,634 tons until the end of November 2018 for a value of 234.8 MD, i.e. an increase of 15,911 tons and 93.3 MD.
Tunisia has exported crabs to Europe (Italy, Spain, Germany, United Kingdom and Austria), Australia and America (United States and Canada) and Asia (Jordan, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka).
In total, fishery products have been exported to 50 destinations, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
