Tunisia: trade deficit stands at 2,319 MD until end February 2020 (INS)

Tunisia’s trade deficit reached 2,319 million dinars (MD) in the first two months of 2020, against 2,462.4 MD in same period of 2019.

According to the data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Tunisia’s exports dropped 1.5%, against a 16.7% increase during the first two months of 2019, while imports went down 2.5% against a 15.4% increase in the same period last year.

Exports reached 7,606.8 MD, against 7,719.4 MD during the same period in 2019.

In value, imports reached 9,925.8 MD, against 10181.8 MD during the same period of 2019.

Following this evolution in exports (-1.5%) and imports (- 2.5%), the trade deficit stood at 2,319 MD against 2,462.4 MD during the first two months of 2019.

The coverage rate gained 0.8 point compared to the same period in 2019 to 76.6% (against 75.8% one year earlier).
