The national carrier company TUNISAIR reinforced its fleet by charting four planes so far to cope with the peak of the summer activity, says a company press release.
The 1st plane chartered with the Lithuanian company GET JET is a Boeing 737-300 and will be operational, between June 4 and September 15, 2018.
The 2nd one is a Boeing 737-400, chartered to the same company for the period from June 18 to September 30, 2018.
Two A340-300s from the Portuguese company HIFLY were added for the Hajj flights between July 30 and September 12, as well as some flights to Africa.
In addition, TUNISAIR plans to charter two more planes between July and September 2018 to meet the increase in demand. One of these two planes will be positioned as a backup to anticipate any failure and thus replace any aircraft unexpectedly immobilised.
The same source pointed out that chartering is a common practice among airlines whose fleet is not sufficient to carry all passengers in high season and that chartering contracts had been concluded with airlines that meet all the regulatory requirements and a demanding specification and that these charters had been validated by the Tunisian civil aviation after thorough inspections.
