Tunisia: Unemployment stagnates at 15.5% in Q4 2018

Despite the return of growth, unemployment stagnates. This is reflected in the indicators of employment and unemployment published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) for the last quarter of 2018.

The number of unemployed stood at 644,900 of the total labor force in Q4 2018, against 642,800 in the third quarter, showing an unemployment rate of 15.5% in stagnation compared to Q3.

This unemployment rate is estimated at 12.5% for men and 22.9% for women.

The youth unemployment rate stabilized at 33.4%, the same rate as in Q3 2018. This rate is estimated at 33.6% for men and 33.1% for women.

The number of unemployed graduates in higher education is estimated at 261,100 people in the fourth quarter of 2018, compared to 269,600 in the third quarter of 2018, down 8,500 people. The unemployment rate for this category fell from 29.7% to 28.8%.
