The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Robin Renee Sanders, has a pplauded the contributions of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to the country’s economic development, saying American businessmen and investors look on to the b ourse as an investment destination of note in Africa.
Sanders, on a visit to the Exchange where he observed trading at the floor, inte racted with the stockbrokers and closed Tuesday trading by ringing the bell, com m ended the management for upholding the tenets of integrity.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the NSE, Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, said the market remained one of the best in the world in terms of Return on Investment ( R oI), as adjudged by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sec t or arm of the World Bank, and Standard and Poors – an International rating agenc y – since 1997.
She added that the Exchange had been rated consistently as one of the top three worlwide in Return on Investment (RoI) in dollar terms.
Also speaking, the Dean of the Stockbrokers, Olu Odejimi, urged the Ambassador t o support its members through multilateral training under the aegis of the Unite d States.
